Theory of Operation

Level 2 test.

Level 2 test.
Time to confirm that you have made the correct connections in the ECM harness. We will be measuring voltages on the test connector as we did when testing the level one wiring.

Unplug the Main MIMA ribbon connector from the MIMA board. Insert the test connector. Start the car idle in neutral, e-brake on.

MAP TEST

DVM negative lead on pin 19(MAP GND)

Positive test lead on pin 16 (MAP+V) You should read ~ 5V.

Positive lead on pin 20 (MAP SIGNAL)As you press and release the throttle, the map voltage will go from about 0.7 to 2.5V.

TPS TEST

DVM

DVM negative lead on pin 17(TPS GND)

Positive test lead on pin 13 (TPS+V) You should read ~ 5V.

Positive lead on pin 18 (TPS SIGNAL) As you press and release the throttle, the TPS voltage will go from about 0.7 to 5V if you press down far enough.

If all test correctly, you can bundle up the ECM harness, and replace the ECM in the car.

PIMA test
Re connect the MIMA controller. The car should start normally, but we may have triggered another code with the disconnected wires, If so follow the reset procedure.

Take the car for a ride. Try pressing the mode 2 button when the car is moving less than 15 MPH. the mode light should flash in, then go right back off. Increase speed to over 25MPH. Tapping the mode 2 (PIMA) switch should light the second mode led, and allow the PIMA to work with the default settings. You should see assist come on when you step down on the gas, and charging when you let up. Jog the settings to your liking. See more on operating MIMA .
