Installing the Genesis One Universal grid charger in a First Gen Civic

Installing the Genesis One Universal grid charger in a First Gen Civic
Civic charger install

The first gen Civics while being similar to the Insight electrically, are constructed quite differently.
The civic IMA box operates at a negative pressure as the blower exhaust air from the box from the power inverter. The replacement air is drawn down through the vent in the rear window area. This air passes through the battery as it is drawn into the box.
The IMA box seal is important as any voids or leaks where air can be drawn in would reduce the cooling air drawn through the pack,
The Civic pack will be removed, and the charger harness connected to it. The Blower control PC board will mount in the trunk just below the blower, and the temperature probes will mount directly on the pack.
This is only a quick overview of the main aspects of the Civic charger install, more detailed instructions will follow.

Location of charger connector on driver side of trunk.
charging your Civic
The charger connector in the first gen civics is on the rear wall of the trunk liner. As the photo shows, no extension harness is required, as long as your trunk is not full of junk. If you want easier access, you may want to consider an extension harness?
