Making the harness 1

The MIMA harness has gone through several changes to make it simpler to make, and smaller and easier to hide in the rear harness. All of the components and materials for the harness are included in the kit.A heat gun is a tool that is a necessity for making this harness, so if you don't have one, get one. While matches, hair dryers, propane torches can be used in a pinch, they are not the tools to use for shrinking the long lengths of heat shrink tubing that are used in the harness, and will increase the risk of damaging the fine wires. We will start by identifing each of the harness components, and making sure that you have all of them.

 Making the harness 1

Separating the parts of the main ribbon
The 20 conductor multicolored ribbon cable is the backbone and nervous system of the harness, so we will begin with that. The connector is already connected to the ribbon end, and will be the zero measurement point.
The ribbon will need to separated into sections, and the sections will be separated from the far end to 21 inches from the connector end.The strands of the ribbon are easilyseparated if you start the split with a snip between the strands at the far end.
Heat shrink on the ECM bundle
Take the supplied length of the 1/4" heat shrink tubing, and cut off a 1" length and put it aside for the fan diodes.
The five wires,on the end of our stripped back cable, the black, white, gray, violet, and blue, as well as the orange wire should be cut to 48" long from the peel back point. The orange wire and the 5 wires should be taped on the far end,and will be passed through the remaining length of the 1/4" shrink tube. Slide the shrink tube right down to the peel point and shrink the tubing carefully with the heat gun.
fan and power control sub harness
Put the main harness aside for the moment, as we construct the fan/Aux1&2 sub harness.
The 10 conductor multicolor ribbon will be separated into the 4 sub connections shown in the photo. After the soldered splices are made, cover the connections with a 1" length of the 1/8" heat shrink, and shrink. This completeds the fan/aux sub harness. now we will combine this to the main harness.
Combining the two harnesses
The two subharnesses will be taped together at the peel point. After the first wrap of tape, bend the ECM (heat shrunk) bundle, and the white ground wire to the connector end of the 20 conductor ribbon, and tape the whole area. The 3/4" piece of heat shrink is now fed down the harness from the far(no connector) end, but will not be heat shrunk yet.
Threading the 1/2" heat shrink over the rear harness
The long piece of 1/2 inch heat shrink is a flat tube, and therefore is difficult to run wires through, so we will use the supplied fish wire to pull the wire through the heat shrink.
Pass the hook end of the fish wire right through the 1/2" heat shrink.
Gather the wires going to the far end of the harness, and while keeping them taunt, and runing your hand down the ribbon, stop and hold them just below the end of the shorter red wire, and put a wrap of tape to hold things together. Fold over the end of the red wire, and add another wrap or two of tape to hold it securely.
Next tape the far end of the harness, into a small bundle, and with the hook of the fish laid against the end, wrap another two tight wraps, then pull up on the fish until the hook is tight against the tape, and wrap the whole end with another two wraps of tape. This should provide a strong attachment for the fish to the harness, which will be necessary as you pull the heat shrink down the harness to the taped area near the peel point. Allow the end of the heat shrink to pass under the brown and violet aux wires. position the 3/4 Remove the tape from the end of the harness, and the red wire. Shrink the tubing along the whole length.
